The economic burden of malaria illness in Nigeria and other African countries is enormous, almost $12 billion annually or according to Onwujekwe and others 2000, 50% of household budget. The African continent shows the greatest effects of this disease, accounting for more than 90% of DALYs (Disability adjusted life Years).
