COMMUNIQUÉ ISSUED AT THE END OF THE INAUGURAL MEETING OF THE 32ND MEDIC AFRICA ORGANIZING COMMITTEE HELD AT THE NMA NATIONAL SECRETARIAT, IKEJA ON 2ND NOVEMBER, 2006

Medic Africa is the gold standard in International Medical Exhibition and Conference in Africa. This event will be the 8th time in Nigeria and is a broader collaboration between the FSG Communications (UK) and the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) also involving the Association of General and Private Medical Practitioners of Nigeria (AGPMPN).

It will hold from 6th – 8th December, 2006 at the Ladi Kwali Conference Centre of the Sheraton Hotel & Towers in Abuja featuring a new format of four concurrent conferences on diverse and varied topics within the health care sector. Apart from local resource persons, erudite international resource persons will also deliver an array of papers on topical issues. High on the agenda will be top level discussions between policy formulators and implementers on the formal introduction of Continuing Medical Education (CME) into the Nigerian Health care systems. This is geared towards the capacity building of health care professionals for a more effective health care delivery, which is the focus of the NMA as a theme for this year’s event.

The exhibition itself will feature both local and international exhibitors showcasing the latest in health care, equipments, paraphernalia and processes among other services.

The conference will also access the current preparedness against Avian Flu and challenges facing the health professionals in emergency evacuation situations.

The event which starts at 9:00am everyday will be formally declared open by the Honourable Minister of Health, Prof. Eyitayo Lambo.
