VACANCY: Program Officer

JOB TITLE:   NMA Program Officer
LOCATION:   60% COMPASS Central Office+ 40% NMA Abuja Liaison Office

POSITION SUMMARY

The NMA Program Officer will provide technical leadership in the areas of Maternal Child Health (MCH), including Polio and Family Planning/Reproductive Health (FP/RH). S/he will support COMPASS strategies in service delivery including training and monitoring while also ensuring NMA’s contributions to improving quality and expanding access to services. S/he will also coordinate NMA related State Program Activities.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provides technical leadership in MCH and FP/RH subjects.
  • Implement COMPASS strategies for scaling up and applying best practices and state of the art interventions in MCH, Malaria and FP/RH service delivery.
  • Collaborates with other COMPASS colleagues and USAID – funded and international organizations on the integration of FP/RH services, including IPT of malaria in pregnancy; also, integration of child and public health interventions at the primary school level (de-worming, immunization, hygiene, nutrition, Polio campaign, treatment/prevention of malaria, etc.).
  • Works with local (LGA) and state-level institutions, including nongovernmental organizations, to develop their capacity for identification, dissemination and implementation of best practices in MCH, FP/RH integrated services.
  • Provides support for training activities in the area of MCH, RH/FP and Malaria.
  • Will work closely with the COMPASS Institutional Capacity Building Specialist, the Child Survival/Immunization Advisor, and the FP/RH Advisor.
  • Represents COMPASS in national and state-level meetings on MCH and FP/RH service delivery.

    REQUIREMENTS

  • At least University degree in Public Health
  • 3-5 years proven experience in health program implementation
  • Demonstrated experience working in a technical team, managing resources and producing results relative to RH/FP and MCH.
  • Ability to work effectively with all provider and administrative levels of the health care system is essential.
  • Excellent verbal communication and writing skills (including technical documents).
  • Excellent Computer skills.
